Abstract:

Aim: The object of the present research is studying the relationship between SOMATIC COMPLAINTS and depression signs with handedness. For this purpose 120 students (female) aged at 25 years and 5 months whom 60 students were right handed and 60 students left handed students were chosen as accessible ones then were chosen randomly from among the same right handed counterpart class each divided into teo groups of depressed or no depressed. The means for gathering data for this research include Beck Depression Inventory (BDI), General Health Questionnaire GHQ-28 and evaluation form of SOMATIC COMPLAINTS which is made by researcher. The results analyzed with binomial logistic regression method t-test and pierson coefficient correlation showed that the mark obtained from SOMATIC signs of right handed and left handed persons have no relation with SOMATIC COMPLAINTS of right side of body but there is significant relationship between SOMATIC sign's marks of right handed and left handed persons with SOMATIC COMPLAINTS of left side of body. Therefore taking into consideration high prevalence of physical COMPLAINTS on left side of body in depressed right handed and left handed students existence of these COMPLAINTS on left side of body can be considered a depression sing.

Abstract:

There is little question anymore about the reality of Post- Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD) as a disorder. For some, this disorder progressively worsens over time and appears to affect nearly all aspects of life, including work, interpersonal relationships, physical health, and view of self. The severity of PTSD may lead to repeated hospitalizations over the years and may require ongoing outpatient treatment. Moreover, a resurfacing of previously controlled symptoms may appear with old age, as former victims become physically incapacitated, suffer losses, and lose social support systems. So far as, no comprehensive effort has been made to determine the joint effects of a range of factors (e.g. combat exposure, locus of control and social support) on post-traumatic stress and SOMATIC symptoms in a single study comprising of non-clinical samples of Iranian War veterans/combatants who had war exposure during Iran-Iraq conflict. The results of the current study demonstrate that combat stress has potential long-lasting effects that leave soldiers emotionally vulnerable, resulting in post-traumatic stress disorder. The study also reveals the effect of combat stress on SOMATIC COMPLAINTS. The result regarding social support was in accordance with earlier findings about the positive effects of social support on psychological adjustment. The findings also revealed the importance of locus of control in the development of post-traumatic stress disorder. Participants with external locus of control, scored higher on PTSD and SOMATIC COMPLAINTS than participants with internal locus of control, interestingly, the hypotheses of an interaction between social support and locus of control were not confirmed. Number of methodological and conceptual problems imposed certain limitations on these conclusions.

Abstract:

Objective: This study aimed to investigate the relationship between cognitive avoidance and SOMATIC COMPLAINTS in adolescents, with a specific focus on the mediating role of interoceptive awareness. Methods and Materials: The research utilized a descriptive correlational design with a sample of 400 adolescents aged 13 to 18 years, selected from high schools in Peru based on the Morgan and Krejcie sample size table. Participants completed the Cognitive Avoidance Questionnaire (CAQ), the Children’s Somatization Inventory (CSI-24), and the Multidimensional Assessment of Interoceptive Awareness –Youth Version (MAIA-Y). Data analysis was conducted using SPSS-27 for descriptive and Pearson correlation analyses, and AMOS-21 was employed for structural equation modeling (SEM) to evaluate the mediating effect of interoceptive awareness on the relationship between cognitive avoidance and SOMATIC COMPLAINTS. Findings: Pearson correlation results indicated that cognitive avoidance was positively correlated with SOMATIC COMPLAINTS (r =. 42, p <. 001), while interoceptive awareness was negatively correlated with both cognitive avoidance (r = –. 44, p <. 001) and SOMATIC COMPLAINTS (r = –. 39, p <. 001). The structural model showed excellent fit indices (χ²/df = 1. 68, CFI =. 97, RMSEA =. 041). SEM results confirmed that cognitive avoidance had a significant direct effect on SOMATIC COMPLAINTS (β =. 32, p <. 001) and a significant indirect effect through interoceptive awareness (β = –. 12, p =. 004), supporting the mediating role of interoception. Conclusion: Enhancing interoceptive awareness may serve as an effective intervention target for reducing psychoSOMATIC distress in youth who rely on maladaptive cognitive coping strategies.

Abstract:

The aim of this study was to evaluation mediating role of Alexithymia between perceived social support and SOMATIC COMPLAINTS among depressed women. Subjects were 101 women suffering from depression disorder whom were referred to psychiatric and psychological clinic in Shiraz city. Measures were Alexithymia Toronto Scale (ATS-20), Multi-dimensional Perceived Social Support (MPSS) and Riahi and colleagues psychoSOMATIC disorders scale. The results of correlation and analysis showed a significant negative relation between perceived social support and SOMATIC COMPLAINTS and there was a positive relation between alexithymia and SOMATIC COMPLAINTS. The results of path analysis showed direct and indirect effect of perceived social support on SOMATIC COMPLAINTS. The research model is able to estimate 0/38 of variances of SOMATIC COMPLAINTS. Consequently, perceived social support both directly and through alexithymia can affect the SOMATIC health of depressed women. Conclusion would be the idea that, women as cornerstone of every society need to receive social support in order to prevent them to be depressed and consequently somatized patients.

Abstract:

BACKGROUND AND OBJECTIVE: The presence of physical COMPLAINTS of unknown etiology is a fairly common occurrence in pediatric populations and often interferes with school, home life, and peer relationships. There are potential relationships among parental illness, parental stress and particularly, negative parent-child relationships and dysfunctional parenting style and children's SOMATIC COMPLAINTS. The purpose of this study was to investigate the effect of the triple p-positive parenting program on children with SOMATIC COMPLAINTS.METHODS: This research is a semi-experimental design with pre-post test and control group. Eighteen mothers whose children had received scores above of cut-point (T=64) on SOMATIC symptoms subtest of child behavioral checklist (CBCL) and their problems were also confirmed by the teacher report form (TRF) were selected and randomly allocated to the experimental (n=9) and control (n=9) groups. Experimental group received triple-p for 8 weeks, single a week sessions lasted two hours. Both groups of mothers were evaluated again by CBCL.FINDINGS: Mean age of subjects in experimental group was 32.2±4.4 and in control group was 31.8±4.3 years. In control group, mean pre-test score was 3.8±0.8 and mean post-test score was 3.6±0.9. In experimental group, mean pre-test score and mean post-test score was 3.7±0.7 and 2.8±1.1, respectively. Also difference in score in control group was 0.2±0.4 that showed a significant difference (p<0.05).CONCLUSION: This research showed that the triple p-positive parenting program should be implemented for parents without considering their children's age and sex.

Abstract:

Background and Aim: Given the prevalence of SOMATIC symptoms disorder among Iranians, the aim of this research is to evaluate and verify the psychometric characteristics of Takata and Sakata psychoSOMATIC COMPLAINTS scale among psychoSOMATIC patients. Materials and Methods: In this study 360 people who referred to the psychoSOMATICs department of Taleghani Hospital in Tehran in 2022, as well as the patients referred by the physicians, psychiatrists and psychologists of medical centers were selected through convenience sampling method. Internal consistency method (Cronbach's alpha) was used to determine the reliability of the questionnaire. Also, exploratory factor analysis and confirmatory factor analysis were used to determine the factor structure. To ensure convergent validity, Goldberg general health scale (GHQ-28) was used and SPSS and Lisrel software were applied for analyzing data. Results: The results of the Cronbach's alpha indicated the appropriate internal consistency of the whole questionnaire and its components. Cronbach's alpha for the whole questionnaire was 0. 957. In the exploratory factor analysis, a "hyper stimulation" factor was extracted. According to confirmatory factor analysis, the goodness of fit indicators of proposed model were confirmed (Chi-Square/df: 1. 297, RMSEA: 0. 029, SRMR: 0. 031, CFI: 0. 976, IFI: 0. 976) and all paths were significant. Regarding the convergent validity, SOMATIC symptoms component, anxiety, dysfunction in social action and function, and depression have a direct and significant relationship with psychoSOMATIC problems. Conclusion: The Persianversion of the takata and sakata psychoSOMATIC COMPLAINTS scale, is a reliable and valid tool for assessing of the severity of psychoSOMATIC symptoms in Iranian psychoSOMATIC patients.
